The kick-off luncheon is designed to recruit callers to reach area women with potentially lifesaving breast cancer early detection information. FUN, FOOD, AND PRIZES!

The American Cancer Society, Florida Division goal is to increase the percentage of women over 40 receiving mammograms from 68 percent to 90 percent. A mammogram is a woman’s best defense against breast cancer because it catches the disease early when it is most treatable
Tell-A-Friend Tuesday FACTS:
- Tell-A-Friend Tuesday
is a perfect way for a person or business to fight back against breast cancer because it is so easy to do and its outcome can be dramatic in the number of lives saved.
- In Florida, our goal is to recruit 20,000 callers who will reach 100,000 women.
- Tell-A-Friend Tuesday
is simple. It enables women to call family and friends with breast cancer information from the comfort of their home or office with a minimal commitment of time.
- Tell-A-Friend Tuesday
is the largest breast cancer education event of its kind in the country.
- Free calling kits are available by calling the American Cancer Society at 825-4132.
- Men are encouraged to participate as Tell-A-Friend Tuesday callers.
- Tell-A-Friend Tuesday
volunteers include individuals and businesses/corporations.
- Tell-A-Friend Tuesday
was first launched in Michigan in 1997, this year the program has grown to include the states of Indiana, Texas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Florida.
- Due to the positive response from the community for the Tell-A-Friend Tuesday program, the American Cancer Society has expanded this year’s program to include the month of October.
